| We just moved in to a new house in Austin, TX, and I'm trying to take control of the garden. Other than the daunting task of taking out an invasion of holly (who would plant that in a whole bed on purpose??), I'm trying to figure out what has already been planted, and which plants I should keep vs weed out.
A low-lying plant with compound purple flowers is growing under my lemon tree. The new growth stands upright, but the mature parts of the plant are long, messy and sprawling. The leaves are arranged opposite each other and are soft and acute at the apex. The main stem is smooth, green and flexible, and the offshoots are lined with soft white hairs. Is this little guy worth sprucing up? There are photos linked below. Thanks! |

| Carol, I think you're right. I looked up the plant profile and everything seems to match Salvia. The oil in the leaves even smells a bit like sage, which makes sense. Thanks! |
