thought this was persimmon?

But in looking up recipes, it doesn't match the images of wild texas persimmon, and it grows on trees that ooze black sap that crusts on the trunk. The trees grow nicely in groves, have few lower branches and get quite tall... they seem young but are upwards of 20 ft. Growing fabulously wild on our new property in zone 8 of East texas. The size of the fruit is golf ball sized at the big end, and has almost Lima bean sized medium brown seeds. The leaves are bigger than the pictures of wild persimmon leaves, almost mango leaf sized. They taste great, the skins are thin, and they are eaten by raccoons and hogs, so they are probably safe for human consumption.
What are they?
Apparently they are Persimmons, just not Texas Persimmons, which are different, and purple.
