Difficult to see clearly but check out Homalocladium platycladum, which goes by the unpleasant name of tapeworm plant.

If correct, coloring is a bit off.....may be stressed for some reason.

Thank you - I think you nailed it. I looked at other photos online and read descriptions and that's got to be it. It is spreading on a dry back hillside in El Sereno. Would like to remove it though from what I've read that can be difficult once this plant gets established. Thanks again though for identifying it!

Kind of a cool plant in a unique, succulenty sort of way :-)) Very well suited to growing on a container where you can control the conditions to its liking. Rather appealing when it flowers.
