I'm hoping someone can tell me what this tree/shrub is.

Location: San Bruno, California.

Garden/Wild: Don't know if it was planted or sprouted up. I do know there are a few in the hills around the house. But I think this plant has been here for decades, so it's possible that it could be the first in the area.

Physical Characteristics: Aside from what the photos show, it's an evergreen, stands around 8' tall, and makes shoots like crazy. It also seems pretty drought-resistant.

Flowers: From what I remember, they are small and white.

Berries: Lots, red, and about 0.5" in diameter.

Was told at one point that it's a pyracanthan, but there are no thorns and the leaves aren't toothed.
