That's a Paulownia blooming out of season and very precociously :-)

Thanks gardengal. That one tricked me, because it's usually a May bloomer here.

Nasty, nasty things. I have several and up to now, they've not been invasive............but this year they're coming up everywhere, even some growing out of the bark of an old tree where a pod was lodged. Soon as I get the tree company back for some major work, they're all coming out.
