| Looks like a young river birch, Betula nigra. |
|
| We have two of these at our vacation home in Pennsylvania... The new growth looks exactly like this young tree and they're Paper Birches (Betula papyrifera). The leaf shapes match, too. Granted, some more info. would be useful, too. Is this a native tree that was pulled up and brought home or was it purchased from a garden center? Young birches do tend to look similar, so a little more info. would be useful. Can also check against local resources for your zone (or state) to see which Birches are native, etc. But, I'm fairly certain it's a Paper Birch, though it's native to very few isolated sections in mountain terrain in zone 8. It's a very common import due to its decorative appeal however. |
