| This plant is growing right at the edge of my pond. It has
already bloomed and you can see the seed pods opened. The blooms are real small and look close to a violet. |

| It IS a violet, Viola species. Would need to see the blossoms to get much more specific than that - there's several that are native to your area and that prefer moist soils. |
