Sedum. You can cut back or leave for "winter interest" as some do

never feed it.. never water it..

and it will probably grow properly and stand upright ....

little cabbages should be forming for next spring.. ALL of them are rootable ... as well as simply sticking a shovel in and cutting half out and moving it ...

Thanks Ken. Can you tell me the name of the plant?

It may be Sedum 'Autumn Joy' or similar.

There is also tree seedling growing in there. You might want to get that out.

as noted ....autumn joy family.. subject to the color of the new flower ... they arent that dark.. but as noted.. its late season ...

this plant.. you could dig it up.. throw it on the driveway.. run it over with the truck.. and plant the scrap ... and most would live...

and it always flops when it is treated too well ....

if you figure out how to kill it.. just quit gardening.. lol ...

I've had some for two years sitting uprooted on concrete that has continued to bloom every year.

I also have a huge bunch I uprooted, threw into an empty pot (without any dirt, just to get them out of the way) and promptly forgot about. They're thriving.

I also took a little one this year, washed the dirt off it's roots, and wedged it between some rocks in my pond waterfall-- grew, flowered, and seems quite happy growing in just water.

In otherwords, it's tough stuff ;) The big bunch in the empty pot keeps surprising my mother when she's moving things around the yard, because she assumes it's heavy and has dirt in it, with the way the plants are growing.

A trick to getting it to stand upright is to cut it back by half when its about 10" tall and making sure its in full sun.

the flowers will not be as large if you cut it back, but will stand up more
