This plant started growing in the planter that my Satsuma tree is in and now it is as tall as the tree. I would like to know if it is a weed or something worth planting.
Thanks |

Not sure if this helps but the top sides of the leaves feel rough almost prickly but the under side is smooth. It is almost like the top side has an nap like how some fabric has a nap. I am in North Houston if it matters. |

| If you're in Houston, it's an elm seedling, most likely Drake elm, they have small leaves. They're all over the place. |

| Ulmus parviflora "Drake" has leaves with smooth upper surfaces I believe, and more minute teeth. I would say winged elm (U. alata) but those usually have smooth upper surfaces too. Perhaps slippery elm (U. rubra)? Beware there is a lot of info on the web confusing slippery elm and American elm (U. americana). Either way, it's a elm, lol. |
