Inside plant (house plant)
Type of plant? see photos
Physical characteristics:evergreen with leaves in groups of five - plant is about 24" tall.
No flowers or seeds noticed

Purple, you've really got your Mr. Magoo glasses on! When I first saw this picture, I looked for critters because the leaves look sticky with tell tale honey dew...but I didn't see anything. Sure enough, there they are all along the petioles and stems!

Ya - looks like I have spider mites or some such bug. :(

Don't know about spider mites, but every time I look at the picture, I see more scale insects. Do you see those small, brown bumps on the tops of the leaves and along the stem? Aren't the leaves sticky?
