vigorous purple flower bush with burgundy stems

I'm trying to identify this plant that I propogated from a street cutting. It's very fast growing. The flowers are actually purple (instead of pink like the appear in the photo). I'm in San Diego. It seems heat tolerant. I'm wondering if the stems will stay burgundy colored over time, or if they will brown. I'm also wondering how to prune it to maximize flowering and keep it from growing too big.

Thanks for the info. I looked it up, and found out it is a highly invasive plant. I'm concerned about the spreading runners. That might mean I have to get rid of it, because I have limited space. But it's good to know, so I can plan ahead.
