I was given a smaller version of this plant by my grandmother today, she's had great luck growing it, and splitting off others to give away to family members, despite not knowing what the plant is called, or anything about it. As you can see in the picture, it's red and green, with what I would call furry prickles around the outer edge of each leaf. She did warn me that each of the "branches" break off very easily when moved around.
