What is this tree?!

Hello please help to identify this tree in my new garden.
I am not sure what these fruit are? They just had a deep reddish/purple flower on bottom of the fruit which most have now dropped off.
The tree has quite a fowl smell that comes from the leaves or these fruit possibly?
