Polypore on Dead Oak in Florida

Does anyone even have a guess at the genus let alone the species? It is growing in an area without birches so it is probably not a "hoof" fungus used to start fires.

Fungi are out of my realm of expertise, but you may try looking at the genus Ganoderma which includes members like artist's bracket fungi which appear similar to the pictured fungi.
