It might be unpruned privet.

Looks like it has alternate leaves. Are there any privets with alternate leaves?

And just how many different plants are in that mess?

= The pruned part has leaves of markedly different sizes.

= There's something with a few large, multi-lobed leaves on the right.

= And the upper and lower parts of the unpruned upper growth look very different -- though maybe what I'm seeing at the top is simply immature new growth?

Cotoneaster

I thought that too decoguy but was expecting berries.

The larger, lobate leaves look like Fatsia japonica.
For Cotoneaster the leaves look to shiny, I think.
The lower unpruned branches could be some cherry laurel / Prunus laurocerasus.

I just checked on the web, seems alternate leaves exclude Ligustrum.

But then the young shoots seem odd.

Could you perhaps get more closeups? That would help, on a scale where you can make out the nervs/ veins of a leaf.
And especialliy of the ones on toph

Cotoneaster, as thedecoguy said. And yes, there is a Fatsia in there too. The Cotoneaster is no problem for the house. The clipped one lower down is hard to see - but I'm wondering if there's an Eleagnus in there somewhere.

I think there are 3 or 4 different types of trees there. And the tallest one being 4~5 metres. I will need to ask the estate management to give them a good pruning. It is looking rather untidy at the moment.
