There are some nice hollies growing in Falls Church, VA, which I really like. Noteworthy are its mostly entire (spineless) leaf margins. Leaves are 2 to 3.5 inches long, but only about an inch wide. Elliptical in shape.
My first thoughts are that it's either pure Ilex cassine or possibly a hybrid with I. opaca (Ilex x attentuata). It's definitely not Fosters or Greenleaf, or East Palatka or Savannah. At least I don't think it is. Could it be an older cultivar? These have been here a long time and are only around 15 feet tall. Open pyramidal in shape.
