| Hi all.
I posted this on the Shrubs forum and it was suggested that I give you folks a shot. I will post a wide shot here and then a close-up of the leaves next. It is growing so beautifully, I figure it must be a weed or something I don't want! ;)
Thanks! |

This is the close-up of the leaves. I figure that if it is something bad, I should get rid of it now. Thanks again.

Could it be a corylopsis glabrescens? That would be wonderful and it looks sort of like the pictures I have found online.

Is it just me or are the pictures upside down? Is it woody then, like a shrub/tree? Often things like this turn out to be elm seedlings. Have you looked around to see if there are any mature plants in your neighbors' gardens that resemble this?

No, esh, the pictures are right side up. Someone else asked that on the shrubs forum. Here is another picture from farther away that ay show the shape better. It is shrub-like, I think, although maybe it is a young tree. Whichever it is, it probably needs to be moved. :(

Sorry but that photo is NOT right side up!! Not unless plants grow out of the side of buildings in your area :-) It is not a corylopsis but not sure what else it may be - Ulmus/elm is as good a guess as anything and bears a resemblance to the foliage. Fast growing would typically indicate a plant that is either weedy or native but not necessarily one to encourage. And for some reason, volunteers never seem to sprout up in an appropriate location either.

If I saw that plant around here, I'd think it was lacebark elm, Ulmus parvifolia, which pops up all over the place.

If you click the pics, they fix themselves in a new window. Not sure why or how...but try that.

Nevermind, didn't work..only worked on the OP's post in the Shrub forum.

I am so confused. On my computer, the pictures are right-side up exactly the way they look in real life. Not sure what you all are seeing, but thanks for your ideas anyway! I guess I will get rid of it. Thanks again and sorry the pics didn't work on your screens!

Don't worry, cyn, it was kind of funny.
