Plant Identification & Seeds ?

Hello
Hoping someone can help identify the following. Also, are those seeds? If so, how does one use them? Do you do something before they die / turn brown? Does it matter?

That's a Heliconia; could be one of a handful of species or one of dozens of hybrids.

I think what your arrow is pointing to is a developing fruit ("seed pod"). No actual seeds yet. And maybe, if it's a hybrid, there won't be any.

Do they become seeds?

The reason I ask is that I planted a few of these and they are multiplying like crazy - - everywhere!!

Not that I mind because I like them but I was just wondering how they are multiplying so quickly.

Hi,
From the way you wrote that, I'm going to assume that you haven't had the plants for very long. So re-seeding would not be the problem. I think it that you have a kind that likes to send out a lot of runners. Meaning they have underground roots that travel a short distance, and then send up a new plant. This can be nice to fill an area quickly, but it can be a nuisance in the wrong area since they will choke out less aggressive plants.
