What is this white flowering perennial plant?

Will post follow-up with a close up of the flower head which was taken in early fall as plants were completing their bloom cycle. Unfortunately it was a little breezy that day and a challenge to get clear pictures, but hopefully it is enough to narrow it down :) Thanks for any ideas!

A late bloomer & the last surviving buds of the season for these plants.

possibly Penstemon tubiflorus (Tube beardtongue), but it's not suppose to be blooming this late:

I'm with Thedecoguy - gooseneck loosestrife. Really, really hard to control in the garden, in my experience.

Here is a link that might be useful: L. cletheroides

Thanks, guys & girls .... it is definitely a baby bloom of gooseneck loosetrife. Not surprising it would be a bully after my experience with Lysimachia nummularia, but the blooms are definitely interesting. The bed I found it in had it boxed in with Physostegia and Artemisia frigida, with a driveway blocking its path in the other direction. Seemed to be a good system for keeping them in check.

And thank you, michiganpete... that is a great resource you provided me the link for and I look forward to checking it out further. :)
