| I believe you have Eranthemum nigrum, (syn. Pseuderanthemum atropurpureum), which is tropical, and according to many sites, only hardy in Zone 11. I overwinter mine in a greenhouse. |

| Psuederanthemum atropurpurea usually has uneven edges on the leaves, and some variegation. I think this is an Alternanthera. |

| I believe we have a winner - Alternanthera dentata 'Purple Knight'. Thanks, Purpleinopp. |

| Glad to help, I've had both. To confirm, look for little puffy white flowers soon, if memory serves about bloom time. |

It's cut down by the first frost in the USA, so weediness won't be an issue as it doesn't even set seed for us. |

Unfortunately, most of the year! I love purple hued plants and really liked this one, but you cannot keep up with removing the seedlings. |

| I do too, sorry to hear you have that problem with this one. Thanks for sharing your info! |

| Funny thing! Today, I caught sight of a plant I had thought was a different one, and 'lo and behold', it is now covered in the white blooms! It followed us to our new home.... 8-)
