Hello to all G.dubs :) My mother has this tree-like house plant which she has no idea what it is (it came in a funeral planter basket); It was growing so high that she pruned a good 2 ft. off of the top. Then she potted it up and gave it to me.

I've had this tree since mid July but I still have no clue what it is. I have searched and searched through plant encyclopedias and googled, but no luck yet.
Here on a GW thread, one provided a link to water roots, and whaddya know?!... my plant!

So if anyone out there can provide me a name or even family, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all,
Elizabeth

p.s. this is a single stem and foliage feels like that lucky bamboo plant.

Yep you're right salt!! Thank you, thank you sooo much :) I'm so releived to know the proper care. In some of the pics it looks as if it has flower buds and a few articles mentioned wildlife that ate the reflexa's fruit... Do u know if it flowers or anything?

^yay^ thank u again ;)

It rarely flowers indoors.

I suggest that it be cut down, and you will get multiple side shoots and hence a much nicer plant. You can also re-pot the top part.

So no flowers for me? That is quite alright as I have my hands full trying to get my Jades to flower... not sure if I could take on another "project" :)

Good idea, Costarico, I have been looking into that after seeing pics of much fuller ones. The single stem look of mine is nice, however, I do admire the bushier ones.
I would propagate the top part if pruned but I'm not sure if now is the best time to be doing so? When you say "cut down" about how far do you mean as I wouldn't want to cut down more than half.

Thanks to you both.
