Hi.

That looks like a blue berry bush. You might want to cut open a berry and count the seeds. I would definitely wait until you get a positive id before you eat them. Are you sure the bush isn't 6 ft tall and not ten feet? Ten feet is sorta the extreme for a blue berry bush and 6 ft more the norm.
I also find it odd the birds are not ravaging the berries this time of the year. So a I would definitely recommend a second opinion.
