| Just purchased this from a local nursery which was labeled as a Draceana Marginata. I'm wondering if it is a variant as it did not look like the other Dracaena Marginata's available (straighter canes, fuller greener leaves with leaves that drooped) Also, this does not look like the ones pictured when you google image it.
I think this is correctly labeled as a character variety, but I'm wondering about the lighter shade in leaf as well as the upward posture of the leaves (almost Lotus-like) If any one can confirm or further characterize this, I would like to search more nursery's locally or on-line for another specimen. thanks in advance |

| Yeup, its a marginata! The new leaves are lighter green and upright. The lighter color might be to higher light in the nursery. The older leaves droop down over time, as the growing tip distances itself from the older leaves. This is a pretty old plant... it takes time to get that tall. Mine also droops a bit when it hasn't had water in a while. |

| This plant looks like it is growing back from a hard pruning and agree, it's quite old. These plants need strong light, some direct sun is good. Come on over to the house plant forum if you'd like to discuss it in greater detail. |
