Common purslane, Portulaca oleracea, or a close relative. It's a succulent, edible weed in this part of the world.

Yours has more flower buds than I'm used to seeing.

I've never tried it, but for many years there was a Mexican grocery across the street from my workplace (in Illinois), and I sometimes saw purslane for sale there with the "regular" vegetables.

Purslane is a common item in my veggie garden. I grow an upright variety called "Golden Purslane." Very yummy. It is good in a green salad or munched right in the garden - usually what we do with it. :)

its winter for me... the P has been gone for months ...

but correct me if i am wrong ... i have seen individual plants get 12 to 18 inches round ...

AND NOT A SINGLE COMPETING WEED INSIDE IT...

is this one of those plants that kills off competition???

if so ... it might not be friendly in your garden ...

in other words... if you are waiting for some seeds you want to germinate ... and the purslane takes over.. the seed you planted.. may never appear ...

can anyone tell me the name for what i observed... i think crabgrass does the same thing ....

Other things grow in and around the wild purslane in my garden. It is not an allelopathic plant in my experience. Since it is generally a ground crawling plant, it only out competes early in the season when taller plants have not yet sprouted and grown large or in between rows of vegetables that stay mostly weeded. I have also seen it grow well in the poor soil waste places where other plants requiring richer, less compacted soil can't grow. It is not the superman of plants here.
