Looks like a portulaca.

That's what it looks like to me as well... also known as "elephant bush" and able to survive with almost no water. Definitely did the right thing by getting it out of the terrarium. :)

Needs sandy soil and good drainage.

Looks like a Peperomia to me. Compare to P. verticillata.

"Elephant bush" is Portulacaria afra, which is not the same as Portulaca. (And they are now considered to be less-closely related than they formerly were.)
