I'm not quite sure what the question is here. Are you asking if they are really Dutchman's Pipe seeds or are you asking what Dutchman's Pipe is?

Hi! I'm asking if anyone recognizes what species/variety of the DP flower it comes from. I've only seen the triangle shaped seeds, so this is a new one on me.

of all the years i have been hanging around this forum...

i have rarely seen seed ID ... once in a blue moon ....

but never... varietal ID based on seed ...

in fact.. they dont look much like anything at the link .... so i wonder how you came to understand.. that an unmarked pack of seeds were actually what the seller said????

BTW .... have you tried any of the tropical forums.. the more rare plant forums????

I really do wonder if they are mislabeled, like you said. I am going to see if I can grow them and find what comes of it.

There are so many species of aristolochia, and I doubt all of their seed looks identical. I grow the a. tomentosa and also a. macrophylla, primarily because they're host plants to pipevine swallowtail butterfly. Can't say I've ever burst capsules apart to look at the seed. They are NOT the easiest to propagate from seed, requiring a water soak and months to germinate.

I did try to grow DP from seed a few years ago, but to no avail. I really don't have the proper set-up for starting too many seeds, but have had luck with a few things.
