i agree... there is no question its a phlox ...

but there is a lot more we might add... if we had some actual facts of the circumstances ...

It may be Phlox paniculata, which is a native species that comes in a variety of colors.

Ken - I live in Yardley PA. This picture was taken a few months ago. I pruned it now i.e. trimmed it but left a feet from the ground. I wasn't sure how to prune as I didn't know the name. Thank you!

Since it is a herbaceous perennial it doesn't actually need any pruning. Everything which grows in a single year will die to the ground in the winter. All it needs is the dead stems cutting down to the ground if that's what you want to do. There is no permanent framework to control.
