This was of great concern to the Europeans prior to the EU as they erased their borders and to the Russians as they relaxed travel restrictions after the breakup of the USSR. In both cases the fear was that since everyone is now free to go where they please, the entire population will concentrate in the "Happy Places".

Both actually looked at the US and took note that mostly everyone was attached to their home turf and that there was not a major shift to the so called "Happy Places". Since these 2 entities 'let their people go', no major shifts in population has taken place. Happiness is in the eyes of the beholder.

Nick, I'm with you. This gal ain't leaving Minneapolis for Omaha. Most of DH's family is here, my professional network is here - his, too, my 2 close friends are here... Plus, we like the place.

As for Nebraska in particular, it'd be interesting to see how happy a place it was before ethanol.
