Tim, if you post this to the discussion forum you'll likely get more answers. Hopefully Alberta will chime in. She is a vanda pro, but until then, do a Google search for vanda culture. Meanwhile, here's how I grow them on my South Florida patio. To start, I hang mine in empty slatted baskets, give them bright, filtered sun, lots of water and frequent fertilizer. They need a good soak of water daily in the Florida heat. Water the roots until they turn green as a Granny Smith apple. You need orchid fertilizer - Peter's 20-20-20 is easy to find. Your local HD - probably even Wal Mart should carry it. I fertilize my vandas weekly in summer, twice a month in winter. Some growers recommend holding off fertilizer while orchids are in flower.

Thanks for the info....I have been using water I filter in a brita filter...lol...I suppose I should get some distilled water instead but anything should be better then tap water.

I went to HD today and found 2 Vandas that had been there for a very long time and not in flower...I got 75% off of them and will try to revive them.
