I broke down and bought some florescent daylight bulbs for the plants today and installed them in our regular lamps by the plants. I left them on when I went to work. When I came home, DH was back-to the window at the computer as usual ... I switched the lamp off, and he jumped up and turned around: "OMG I thought it was still daytime!" Haha pretty funny. Those lights do emit something different from normal bulbs.

I read on the terrarium forum that florescent lights lose their UV qualities after about 6 months even though they still are burning bright. Can anyone confirm this?
