HAVE: Who might be interested in some Drosera capensis?

These are sundews in case you’re not familiar with them and just the best little gnatcatchers ever. Great companion plants to orchids.

Here’s the situation:
I grew a whole flock of these from seed. There are probably several dozen plants. Pretty soon each one is going to need its own pot and that’s the problem. It’s going to be tough to find room for all of them and I don’t want to take the chance of mailing plants at this time of the year. My plan was to put them up for trade or something come spring if there’s an interest. If there isn’t much interest, I simply won’t keep them all.

So right now I’m only trying to do a general assessment of who might be interested come spring in working out some kind of deal? I’m not taking names or anything and won’t hold anyone to anything they say right now. I’m just trying to get a ballpark number of how many plants I should continue to grow. So if you think you might be interested, post a reply.

One note: I'm not planning on just giving these away since that would be too expensive to do. I'm really looking to do trades or something.

Thanks.

Hi Kevin;
oo,oo, me, me!
Lost mine, don't know why and need to try it again.
Have no idea what of mine you would want. You have a much larger collection.
Thanks for posting

Hi Kevin,

I'd be interested :)

Although this year, I have no gnats! But I have been much more diligent about pest control.

Here's an update:

I transplanted 15 of these into 2 inch pots today. They're growing fast. When the weather is safe to ship (April?), I'll start another thread.

Hey, I just saw this. Would you be interested in any tilly's in exchange for these? The other Kevin had never seen the varieties I sent to him and bada has some I sent him in bloom (Kevin's should be too). The good news is you only have to water them very infrequently in the winter. Laura

Laura

I just might be interested in those. I know at one point in time I wanted to try some.

OK, here's an update. I have 15 of the babes currently growing nicely in 2 inch pots. I'm thinking the weather should be stable in about a month or so. I also want to give them an opportunity to grow a bit yet. When they're ready to go, I'll probably just start another thread. I'm also thinking of sending 2-3 plants for each trade assuming I can find people who have things I want.

Kevin
