Hi,
I purchased a mini Phal? yesterday...really pretty, with purple blooms. I did some research, browsed this forum, etc. recently for info. on them. I've never owned an orchid before, but I wanted some flowering plants inside, & I've seen orchids in so many stores lately, the mini's & the bigger ones, so I thought I'd start out with a small one first! I was also wondering if they do well in a terrarium, since they like humidity? Any tips or advice is appreciated! :)

it would do well in a terrarium. just make sure that water doesn't sit in the crown, it'll rot. do you have any specific terrarium or cultural questions?

They also need air movement. I've never seen anyone grow Phals successfully in a terrarium. Too wet, dim and stagnant.

RE: mini orchids

I have about 30 phals. and most of them are miniatures, I grow my plants under
lights during the winter and outside on covered porch's in the summer. I grow
most of my miniatures in clay pots but I do have a few in plastic pots, all are doing fine but you have to regulate watering for each, I also have (6) mounted
miniatures, I haven't had any experience with terrariums but I would be very concerned about the moisture in an inclosed area, like was stated previusly air movement is important, that being said I use a mister during the winter. Good luck with your miniatures Hank.......
