I try to wait til spring for most of my repotting. In this case however, if you think your plant is suffering, I'd recommend repotting immediately!

I have one of these and I found that it tended to grow better on a raft rather than in a pot.

Allan, does this plant perform well for you? I was so disappointed with mine. Hoping it's poor blooming was because of stress of shipping while in early budding stage. It came from Hawaii with a tall branched spike and buds in early development. Buds just would not develop well. A few bloomed. I finally cut the spike off.

Sheila, do you see any sign of new root growth?

Personally, I would wait until next month or the first signs of root growth.

Potting before growth just damages the roots that are still functioning without any new growth to take their place.

If you fear the roots inside the pot are in bad shape, maybe you could cut away the plastic pot and just let the plant sit in the clay pot until its ready to repot.

Thx Jane. Right now I have the plant laying on a shelf without the pot. The spag is too, too wet and I wanted it to dry out. Yes I think putting it into a clay pot and waiting for the longer daylight of spring might be a better choice. I'll try to gently pull the root ball open and see if I can spot green roots. It would sure make me feel better about a successful outcome for this plant.

We are in the middle of our summer at the moment and the plant has put on a great growth spurt so its looking extra promising for our spring August September when I should have a couple of spikes this time.
