I wonder if it would work for grafting trees. It would make sense.

i used it on my ficus lyrata, when i pruned the trunk leaving no leaves at all. just was afraid that it might die on me. it produced 4 buds that grew.

i also tried it on sev other ficus lyratas - they formed buds too (and they grew also).

i also tried it on wooded trunk of calamondin (bud formed , but did not grow) and also on wooded and tips of crotons - buds formed, but did not grow much. perhaps, it matters WHEN you apply the paste. my initial application was mid-summer.

how did you apply it?

Just put it on the cut?

for ficus lyrata i usually notch at 45 degree angle - about 1/3 of a branch and apply paste with Q-tip below, where i see old leaf node or in the crotch of the existing leaf and also at horizontal 'seams' between the leaf nodes(those are present only on older mature trunks with bark). sometimes the buds form right above where leaf used to be, sometimes in between 2 leaf nodes and sometimes even way down, like 6" down!. after about a month i finish the notch and cut off the branch. at this point i also apply some paste (very little is needed, just smear it a bit) around the top. i try to cut in such a way as to have a leaf node just below the cut. very often the bud will form right at the top - which is nice. when it gets thicker in a few years - it covers up the stub - so the transition looks more natural. but often buds sprout 2-3 inches below the cut. so it will be necessary to trim off the wood later (like a year after, so as not to damage the growing young branches)
