| Help! I have mealy bugs or some such thing on an orchid I bought last weekend. How can I get rid of the bugs without damaging the flowers? I've picked off a lot of bugs by hand but I want to make sure to get the ones that are hiding in the crevices and kill off the eggs. |

| If there are only a few I would suggest manually removing them with alcohol and a qtip. If you continue to see them popping up try the alcohol spray suggested in the previous post. Avoid spraying the flowers. Be sure to hit under the leaves and in the crevices where the leave intersect with the rest of the plants. Mealy bugs like those hiding spots. I would stay away from heavier chemicals until the flowers fade. I have lost flowers and spikes that way. |
