Something cool

I haven`t posted for awhile, because 1) I don`t think I have much to contribute. 2) my orchids are still just spiking no blooms yet. But I had set up this little orchid safe house so to speak, I put babies in need of special care instead of sphag and bag method. Any way I had decorated with various small plants and had found a twig on a tree that had this tiny air plant (please forgive me I have no idea exactly what it is.) And stuck the twig in the sphag moss and left it be not paying attention that the little twig sprouted, ha I have a tree growing I thought the twig was dead.
I have had very good luck with keeping the tender orchids growing in this little hospital. I wish I had pictures of orchids instead, maybe in a couple of weeks the silly things will bloom. Happy growing :o) Deanna |

| So pretty, Deanna! What size is your terrarium; and what is that rippley white mass on the left? It looks like a piece of cryptocrystalline quartz that I once brought home from a local mineral show...fanciful stuff. All those little plants and mosses look happy to be there. It's easy to see why that "air plant" appealed to you--cute little thing. If you ever identify it, please post the name. Thank you for sharing your mini-plant spa and wellness center. : ) Sweetcicely |

| Thanks Sweetcicely, I did research and I found that the little plant is Tillandsia Recurvata a fancy name for ball moss. Its hated by the Oak owners here. Found out that it is showing promise in aids/hiv vaccines WOW a small weed here may help aids patients. The large background is a waterfall made from resin, I bought this terrarium for plants but it is used for small frogs and such. 12x18 inches. I have a phal that it easy to see on the rope in the background, a paph, and oncidium are in the the mix to and doing very well, they fell off when I divided some plants and I just stuck them in there not knowing what really would happen seems the paph has decided to start growing a new leaf. :o) Deanna |
