MILTASSIA: Is anyone growing these ?

I am new to Miltassia orchids. I am a SlipperOrchid guy, but saw one on Ebay where the seller stated that these are so easy to grow and bloom and are forgiving in their care - I just had to invest. So, I have Mtssa Dark Star "Orchidworks" on the way. If anyone is growing Mtssa orchids please let me know what your experience has been. Many thanks.

I have a mounted Miltassia Shelob Webmaster, the only Miltassia I have. I grow it fairly bright and even watering. Good intermediate grower, should do well indoors.

Here is a link that might be useful: My blog

I'm not growing them now, but I have grown Miltassias, including Dark Star 'Darth Vader'. As I recall, Dark Star was easy and vigorous. Bloomed in the fall, starting spikes as the days lengthened in August. Spikes were shortish, and even a couple of flowers made a lovely show because the color was so intense and the flowers were shiny. I'm pretty sure the flowers were fragrant, too.

I think you made a great pick, and will love this one.

Easy to grow, but in our zone like it on the warmer side over winter. It blooms in late Spring.

Just curious, does anyone know if they have crossed Miltoniopsis with Brassia or are all those commonly sold crosses with the warmer growing Miltonias.

I can certainly grow Miltassia in Cattleya conditions but have always failed miserably with Miltoniopsis. Just too hot here in summer for them.

I have 2 plants similar to yours, and I grow them in climate similar to yours. They grow and bloom well. I put them outside in half sun in summer, and in cool GH (nights down to hi 50's)in winter. They would be more happy if they didn't get so hot in summer, but they still bloom every year.
