often there is more under the table than on top.

I have decided to enlarge my Coelogyne collection. Andy lists 10 on his site, some of which I do not have. I suspected he has more so I phoned him and talked to him in person. He told me that he probably has 50 odd Coelogynes. To save his time he read to list into the answer feature of my phone and I have spent the last couple of days deciphering it and researching them.

He left about 40 names some of which I already have, leaving me with 30 to choose from rather than the 10 on his site. I have made this experience before, both with him (Dracula and Pleurothallis for example) and other vendors. Obviously you cannot do this involving the entire catalog but if you are shopping a specific genus, it does not hurt to ask as there may be hidden gems under the bench.

Now the question is do I eat dog food next month or get a bunch of cool Coelogynes at his open house tomorrow. Dog food will probably win, properly spiced it does not taste too bad..

Dog foods not so bad. Cat food is another story!

I had a similar experience at Odoms. Found a few old Catts I couldn't find anywhere and decided to take a drive to their nursery.

They had a few old classics tucked away on a back bench. Said they were using them for breeding but would give me a few pieces. Paid him $15.00 bucks and walked out smiling.

So no dog food yet.
