Orchid advice for beginners!

Hi! I acquired this orchid from a friend's mother who was going to toss it once the bloom began to fall out. When I first got this orchid its roots were in rough shape, it had been in a pot with no drainage and had sat in the same water for over 3 weeks. Its roots were so mushy to the point they would just fall off by touching them. I ended up cutting off all the bad roots and I have had it since February and it is still alive! It had two long stems, one started to turn yellow and began to dry up so I cut it and the other stem seems fine. I just have no idea how to care for it and I'm not even sure what type of orchid it is. It had white and pink flowers when it was in bloom. Just curious how often should I water it (I live in south texas)? And how much sunlight should it get? Should it be strictly inside or can I put it on my balcony at times? Also how often does it bloom? And are there specific things I need to do to encourage it to bloom?
