Seriously carts hate me but maybe you could soak the roots making them bend more easily and then fit them comfortably in the pot. That fits. If you cut the roots you might stress it more and set back the plants adjustment period,I know orchids tend to prefer snug pots.just my opinion,I know the experts here will advise better.velleta

Just a thought are all the roots good,do the turn green if wet��"if not you could remove the ones that are brown or hollow and trim it carefully and maybe then it will hold in the first clay pot shown. Soak the roots in water and then you will know if they are all healthy.velleta

The roots are all healthy and pliable. I remember I was watching a garden show many years ago and the featured guest stated it's ok to cut very long roots as long as you keep 3 inches of root attached to the plant.It's probably just for plants and not orchids.With orchids it's all about the roots.Thanks again for your expertise.

You should try growing a cattleya again.Get one that thrives in Jamaica.I'm sure the ones that grow in So.Fl. will do well in Jamaica.Try Cattleya Skinneri, it's an easy one to grow.When I started getting into orchids an employee at a local nursery recommended Catt Skinneri and it's still a favorite of mine.

I cut the roots this time of the year. I wouldn't touch any new roots starting. The long roots, I would cut those in half and stick it in a small pot.
