Watering Question

Hey everyone

I apologize up front for what will be my first of many over analytical questions, but I can't help myself.

Having read all I can on Cattleya watering techniques, I have come to the conclusion that it is definitely not an exact science. I guess if you are working with living things, nothing is constant.

My initial watering schedule, I believe was too far to the under side instead of over watering. Once I saw all the old pseudobulbs shrinking,I started watering more and I think I'm in the correct ball park for time of year, growth rate, etc.

My question is this. The pic below (my teenage C. percivalina). It's fairly typical of my plants. The readings talk about pseudobulb fullness as a way to determine if the plant is receiving enough water, but how full is full? Are these bulbs considered about the correct fullness, or high or low? The newest "old" bulb is to the left and looks the fullest. Should they all be "plump", or just the most resent few?
