Stem Still Green After Cutting 2+ Months Ago ?

Earlier this year we were given 2 healthy new orchids in addition to the miniature one we already have, all 3 in full bloom (the mini for the 2nd time)...The blooms ran their course, and when they all fell off and the stems were browning, I cut them just above the nodes as I was advised.
This was more than 2 months ago.
So the 1st plant (2 stems) had the remainders of the stems turn brown, the mini's stem turned brown, but the 3rd plant's stem has stayed green and alive-looking.

To describe in a little more detail; the stem is cut 1-2 nodes above the plant itself. There is a little stem nub left above the topmost node and it is brown and dead, but everything below it is green and alive but showing no sign of growth.

I can't seem to find any info on stems staying green for so long, so has anyone else experienced this? Would it potentially branch if it was cut back one more node?
