Here is my first ever orchid. Rescued from a clearance rack out of bloom, I was 95% sure it would die. After 3 months of absolutely no change, I am glad to see a baby leaf growing as well as something else!

When my other orchids send out new roots, they are bright green. This looks like a root, but it is brown. 2 other 'things' are beginning to push their way out, but those are so new and hidden, I can't tell what color they are.

On a side note, I have an orchid on my desk. When I write or type, it causes some vibration making the flowers shake. Is this bad for the flowers, or are they adapted to being moved by wind in their natural environment?

Both are Phalaenopsis.
