Fresh dendrobium kingianum thread

Wow, i was surprised to see a mess of a thread... The original writer about how to winter their dendrobium kingianum is in New Jersey, zone 6, as near as I can tell. So I would like to make a simple reply, as i have trillions of them, but am in Berkeley, CA in oh gosh, zone 9? (It should say at the top of my post, I think). I treat mine exactly like my cymbidiums, though one clump is in bark and one is in cymbidium potting mix. I get flowers and keikis, seemingly at random, since they appear on the same clumps. Mine are on my front porch and never come indoors, but I don't get snow. Occasional ice and frost, (my 3,000 gallon pond freezes over on occasion), but I also don't have a very well insulated house, so I think my porch doesn't freeze. if it's going to be bad, I throw sheets over my plants. As for water, I do water occasionally during the winter. I don't know if this helps, but I wish you the best of luck. Janine
