How many orchids does everyone have?

thanks, my parents have been trying to justify not letting me get anymore orchids next year by saying that nobody without a greenhouse could possibly have more than me. I needed to prove them wrong. :)

Used to have @160, now only about 50 that I "hope" I can grow succesfully.

Exclusively an indoor grower here.

Numbers have been all over the map for the last few years (peaking around 70), but at the moment living in an apartment with only a 5' window to grow in, I've got about 27 orchids, and maybe 10 non orchids.

i have about 200 - some die and i buy some more. most are compact plants. in the summer most are outside. in the winter, they are in every window and a spare bedroom except for the cool growers which are in the sunroom which is heated to 40F-50F. i also have quite a number of non-orchids.

I'm also an indoor grower with limited space. I have 16 orchids of ten genera and try to add a new genus or species each year (given sufficient space).

Roughly 1000 down from a peak of 4000. Outside growing in back yard. Shade house for catts and phals--open yard for vandas and dendrobes, cymbidiums and intergenerics. Orchid society friends take turns caring for them as I have been restricted by limited mobility for the last three years.

Under 20, but wanting to expand. I'm relatively new at collecting and growing orchids. Most are grouped amid my massive tender bulb collection, everything grown indoors with the help of supplemental lighting.

I have 65-70 depending on whether you're counting duplicates and things that are on the verge of death! And they are all on two windowsills, a plant rack and two tanks.

Looks like I have about 760 different orchids. Not including the 12 cattleya's that I might win from Kawamoto Orchids ebay auctions this week! Always have more room for a few more.

1 Oncidium-like thing. Similar to Sherry Baby

1 grass-like one I'm having trouble identifying.

2 Cattleya (one is very tiny!!)

1 epicattleya

1 brassavola

I'm an indoor windowsill grower (plus 1 growlight with 10 plants under it to brighten a dark room) who has a very little house but since it has big windows I've been told I pretend it's a greenhouse = around 35 to 40 orchids plus 80 other houseplants from foliage to violets to hoyas.

I have 54, used to have around 120. Had to downsize now that I am a parent of a real child, and not just a 'chid. Having a new baby who has grown into a 5-year old took up too much of my time (for the better of course) so had to downsize my orchid collection. I am an in home grower, utilizing just windows.

I have about 25, lately people keep giving them to me, they get them as gifts and pass them on to me because they dont know what to do with them. Very lucky there but am running out of room fast. I have them under a grow light, but think some will be upstairs this winter on the sills. tricia
