Cymbidiums and coconut-coir question

Hi all. I repotted my mom's terribly overgrown cymbidiums. Out of 4 pots I ended up with 15 cym's. 3-6 bulbs per 8 inch pot. I removed most of the backbulbs as the new bulbs and roots were healthy. I used Schultz's orchid bark for the first few pots, but it is terribly expensive in Canada, so I used the expandable coco-coir(50%) and Schultz orchid bark (50%) as a half/half mixture. Will this be okay? Will the roots get enough air? Has anybody used coir with cymbidiums and had success?
Thanks in advance.
Mikey

RE: Cymbidiums and coconut-coir question

it should be fine. i pot my cymbidiums in a 1/2 course bark, 1/4 perlite and 1/4 potting soil. but thats what works for me. just keep an eye on them, check them before watering etc.
