phal offshoot

| I see pictures of the keikis, but I have an offshoot growing on the base of the phal, underneath the leaves. It does not have any roots, but it does have two leaves of its' own. What is that, and what do I do with it. |

| It is a basal keiki and I don't do anything with mine. I let them grow next to the main plant and you will double your spikes. It makes a great display. This is Phal. venosa with three basal keikis and three keikis on the spikes.

| As it gets larger and grows more leaves, it will put out its own roots and can eventually be separated from the mother plant, should you so desire. - Steve |

| Hi pat_tom, I have a Phal putting out similar leads and have posted a message and picture for you (and anyone else who's interested) on the Orchid Gallery. The thread is called, "Response to 'Phal offshoot' by pat_tom" (I don't know how to post a picture on this side without using a picture site.) Sc |
