Update: i used the Bayer systemically on everything. Ferns, orchids, etc. about 75 plants of which 25 are orchids. I've had it with the scale i know some of these plants may not like the Bayer but I'm losing plants one by one to this horrible pest. So if I lose some so be it. Thx for the help. I'll keep you posted.

I've tried something new and it has been very successful Miracle Grow Leaf Shine seems to kill adult scale. Some one gave me a large Bulbophyllum which was covered with scale. I sprayed it with the Leaf Shine and it killed all of the adult scale. I repeated in a week and it's now inset free.

It's become my 'Go To' insect spray at this time.

Nick that's interesting. Wouldn't you think the stuff that makes leaves shine so much would also clog the plant's pores as well as the scales pores? in fact that was my concern about repeat Neem oil sprays (which by the way did not kill the scale. After three weekly applications I found fresh ones). It's only been about a day since I used the BATS systemically and so far nothing seems to resent it. We'll see how they all do in a week.
