Massachusetts Orchid Society Show

I went to the Mass Orchid Society show this past weekend at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA. It was fabulous!!! All kinds of beautiful orchids - the colors, shapes and sizes were amazing!! Attended two workshops, one on repotting and one on the culture of phals.

Best of all I came home with my first orchid: an odontocidium - St. Anthony of Egypt 'Huina Road'. It's so lovely - and I'm reading about how to care for it and would welcome any hands on tips.

Thanks!

Helen in Malden, MA

Aren't shows fun? Our season just started; we had a show 1.5 hours south last month, we have one 2 hours east in three weeks, then our show is in January, and one a month for the three months after that. It is almost enough to keep me happy through these gloomy Michigan winters!

Wish there was a Orchid society in the western part of the state that would have a show

Helen, I checked out this forum to see what responses you received. You might want to repost and make the "Subject of Posting" more specific to questions about taking care of your new odon. orchid --- maybe even with its name in the subject heading.

The FAQ section here also has good tips on care, watering and light requirements.

I'd caution you about looking in the Orchid Gallery, though. That's a dangerous place ---- might just send you out looking for more!

Hi Helen, glad you enjoyed the show. I gave a lecture on cattleyas Saturday at 11 am, were you there?
