Enjoyed an evening with Fred Clarke

Wow, he had quite a presentation on his mini/compact catts!!! I purchased one of his blue catt crosses and wished I'd have had the funds to get a couple of the red or yellow hybrids...he showed stunning slides. The only downside to his fabulous breeding being 'no fragrance'!

I also purchased a Cl Rebecca Northern x , but wasn't able to ask questions about culture. I was told that it is blooming size...so maybe??? He's doing a presentation on catasetums in San Antonio on Friday, but I don't think I'll be able to get there to hear him speak again.

Make the effort if you can, that is his best presentation. He talks about the development of "After Dark" and might very well have a couple for sale.

His presentations on any subject are just great, much more that flower pictures.

He is one of the best organized presenters I have ever heard. After one of his talks you have a good grasp of that group of plants. His presentation on Catesetums is definitely his best. We have had him 5 times, are not tired of him and will get him again as soon as he has another presentation ready.

He had some After Dark plants with him. I'm just not that keen on so-called 'black' orchids. He even had some re-makes of the plant for $40., which everyone seemed to think a fair price.

I've not totally ruled out going on Friday...just depends on several factors.
